South America Tourist Attractions

The most popular countries to visit in South America offer a diverse array of things to do and see.  Just like every continent, South America has its share of beaches, mountains, lakes, deserts, glaciers and waterfalls which make for a spectacular vacation.  Not to mention South America is also rich in history and culture.

Andes Mountains

Although Argentina has a few beautiful beach destinations such as the beaches of Mar del Plata, it is  most known for its mountainous regions which provide some breathtaking natural scenery.  One popular mountain and village is Sierra de La Ventana which in itself has been declared a Natural Monument.   It offers many caves and grottos to explore which provide for a unique experience. Another one of the most well known places to visit in Argentina is the Perito Moreno Glacier with tours bringing visitors to the glacier daily.

Now if a beach destination sounds the most interesting then Brazil, another one of the most popular countries to visit in South America, would be a better choice.  There are many beautiful family style resorts in Brazil, such as Club Med that offer kid and family friendly fun and entertainment.  To mention beautiful beaches in Brazil, Jijoca de Jericoacoara has been claimed to be one of its most beautiful beaches with its pristine lagoons and large dunes.  With high winds that cross the dunes, it is said that some of the best kite surfing in the world is found at Jijoca de Jericoacoara beach.

Another one of the most popular countries to visit in South America is Chile.  It has just as many beautiful beaches as Brazil.  And of course one of the most well known places to visit in Chile is Easter Island.  However, if you are looking for something a bit more distinctive try visiting San Pedro de Atacama.  It offers unprecedented stargazing because of its altitude along with a unique sport to try known as sandboarding , similar to snowboarding but on sand instead of snow.
